I am currently moving back through the hermeneutics portion of my dissertation and so re-reading several influential works of the 20th Century (or in case of Heidegger reading the whole thing for first time). Currently reading:
- Gadamer – Truth and Method
- Heidegger – Introduction to Metaphysics (then reading whole of Being and Time)
- Wittgenstein – Philosophical Investigations
I have entertained the thought of blogging through one of these books. It could help me as I would have to digest the material in a different way, and offer chance for others to tell me what I get wrong (these are not easy reads!). It could also be of interest, even useful, for others doing biblical studies because these works are so influential in the ways we read and understand.
Would anyone be interested in working through one of these books together in March and April? Which of these books would interest you the most?
Cruciform Theology 
I’d try to keep up with any of those three (read Being and Time many years ago, didn’t get most of it). Only read through bits and pieces of Gadamer (mainly secondary sources). And I am fascinated will all things Wittgenstein. So he is my vote. But I’ll probably try to ride along regardless.

Me! Me! 🙂 I’d be happy with any of the three. I could definitely make a contribution with Wittgenstein – whatever I managed to absorb from Hauerwas’ and Griffiths’ wisdom – and you can never read him too many times. With the other two, it would be a great opportunity for me to finally read stuff that’s been on my radar for a while.

… Well, darn. Why’d you have to put us to such a decision, Chad? I don’t think I’d like Heidegger, but I can’t help but hear good things about Gadamer, and Wittgenstein would fit well with my linguistic studies… blast. Decisions, decisions…
